Summer Camps are BACK in 2021! Camp Discovery will occur weekly starting June 7th through July 23rd. Discovery Center Summer Camps give kids a perfect mix of learning and fun, which is why the DHDC has been voted *BEST DAY CAMP* for several years! The learning opportunities are rich with updated, science-based curriculum and qualified teachers. Plus each week of camp is jam-packed with hands-on science activities and experiments, crafts, discovery and FUN!! This year, each camper (Grades 1-6) will enjoy one day each week outdoors at Wildcat Bluff Nature Center. Camp Discovery is offered for ages 3 through entering 6th grade.

Wildcat Bluff Nature Center – 1st – 6th graders will attend camp at Wildcat Bluff ONE day each week.

June 7 – 11: Oceanography – Explore Creatures of the deep sea.

June 14-18: Space – Investigate the new frontier.

June 21-25: Zoology – Reptiles, mammals, insects…oh my! Discover animals far and wide.

June 28-July 2: Science of Superheroes – Uncover the science behind what makes a superhero so super!
(UPDATE: 4-5 years morning; 3rd/4th Grade Superhero is FULL)
July 5-9: Code Masters – Learn the building blocks of our digital world through treasure hunts, puzzles and more!
July 12-16: Paleontology – Travel back in time to unearth the land of the dinosaurs.

July 19-23: Engineering – Construct and create as you explore the world of engineering.

PRE-CARE AND AFTER-CARE OPTIONS
Pre-Care: 7:45 – 9:00 am
$30 per week
After-Care: 4:00 – 5:15 pm
$30 per week
Pick up and drop off for Pre/After Care will be located in the WEST wing. Use the sidewalk to the left of the main entrance for access.
Full-day campers need to bring a sack lunch and drink that does not need to be refrigerated or heated. DHDC will offer a box lunch for $40 weekly. Select this option during registration.

HOW TO REGISTER:

*Please note that if a camp fills up, there will be an option to be added to a waiting list for that camp.
Please enroll your child in camp for the grade they will be entering for the 2021-2022 school year. By enrolling your child, you agree to the age guidelines set by DHDC. If it becomes clear that your child does not satisfy the age guidelines, he or she may be dismissed without refund.
Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian except when under the direct supervision of camp instructors. Children may not be left unattended before or after camps. Campers should be brought to their class no more than 10 minutes before start time unless enrolled in Pre-Care. Campers should be picked up promptly at the end of each camp. For your child’s safety, we will release your camper only to those people listed on the registration form. No exceptions! Please bring a photo ID when you pick up your child so we can identify you. *
OTHER HELPFUL INFORMATION:
- Send your child in play clothes. Some of our camps can get messy.
- Have your child wear closed-toe shoes. It makes playing outside safer.
- Please keep all toys at home. We don’t want them to get lost.
- Please leave cell phones and electronics at home. If you need to contact your child, call the front desk at 806.355.9547, extension 0.
- Children need to be potty trained. Our staff is not trained to handle diapers.
- We provide one morning snack and one afternoon snack. Campers with dietary restrictions may bring their own.
- T-shirts are not included in registration fees. They are a gift from DHDC, and each camper will receive one for the whole summer.
- Does your child receive special education support at school? If so, please note, DHDC staff are not specifically trained to work with children with special needs, however, limited accommodations may be available (although not guaranteed). Please contact the Camp Director at 355-9547 ext. 114 before registering.
Cancellations made by DHDC are fully refunded. Cancellations made by the customer 7 business days before the start of camp will be refunded minus
a $10.00 processing fee. Cancellations within 7 days, missed camp days, and missed Pre-Care or After-Care will not be refunded. **Please note: As of now, camps are scheduled as planned. Should that change, any camps canceled by the DHDC because of COVID-19 will receive a full refund.
Campers are encouraged to wear a face-covering during their visit. For the safety of guests and staff, our staff will continue to wear masks.
