Weathering the Storm: The Science of Severe Weather


Grades K-5

Weathering the Storm: The Science of Severe Weather is a day full of weather-related activities including presentations by KAMR Chief Meteorologist John Harris* and storm chaser Jason Boggs* and the National Weather Service Amarillo, a hands-on weather learning lab with stations exploring the science of severe weather, and a one-day-only showing of Tornado Alley in the DHDC Space Theater, all designed for students to explore the science of severe weather and learn how to safely weather the storm. A short exhibit hall time will be included in your rotation schedule, and groups are welcome to stay after the conclusion of the event for extra exhibit hall time if their travel schedule allows. Rotation schedules will include a scheduled lunch time (lunches not provided).

  • Reservation deadline is February 15, 2019, but will close early if event reaches capacity. Register here. This event is an annual sellout, so book early for best availability.
  • Education Partner Districts: FREE
  • Non-Partner Districts: $5 per student
